My kids ask for snacks ALL DAY LONG! I came up with a new system where they have to earn their snacks with this FREE Printable Reward Reading Chart!
Do you want to know how many times I heard, “Mom, can I have a snack?” this summer? About a billion times. I don’t know about you, but I can’t afford to buy a billion snacks and my kids can’t be that hungry. So, I created this Printable Reward Reading Chart to keep those kids in check. Oh, and to get them reading! Bonus!!
So basically, each circle that is checked off is either a book or minutes read. For my 7-year-old daughter, it’s 5 minutes, for my 5-year-old son, one circle is one book. The snacks are given “prices” 1-5 and the kids can pick a snack that they can afford with the points they made for the day. I also made a Treat Basket with a label and they can pick their treats from the basket.
While you’re doing your Back to School Shopping, stock up on snacks at Sam’s Club that have the Start School Like a Champion label! That way, you can g et two free Scholastic books– one for yourself and one to donate to a local school – when you buy any participating Kellogg’s® or J.M. Smucker product at Sam’s Club®. Products must be purchased now thru 9/30/16, while supplies last! Over 80 full-length Scholastic titles to choose from for beginning readers to teens! I purchased Kellogg’s Finding Dory fruit snacks and Nutri-grain Bars for our snack basket!
Redeem your free books in 3 easy steps! 1. Buy any participating Kellogg’s or The J.M. Smucker Company product by 9/30/2016 2. Upload your receipt at FreeBookOffer.com/Sams within 30 days of purchase. 3. Redeem for your free Scholastic book and one book will be donated to a local classroom as well!
You can also do this with kids that can’t read yet. My son WILL NOT sit still for reading. He cried one night when I read him a book without pictures. For real. This way, I figure he’ll get his reading in and he’ll enjoy the thought of getting a treat when he’s done! Mom for the win!
